Juicy chicken, sautéed peppers & onions, creamy queso, and melted mozzarella come together for the ultimate Chicken Philly Cheesesteak! This easy, cheesy, and satisfying sandwich is perfect for game days, weeknight dinners, or anytime you’re craving comfort food.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (trimmed)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 1 tsp lemon pepper
- 2 tsp garlic salt
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 small green bell pepper (sliced, ~½ cup)
- 1 small red bell pepper (sliced, ~½ cup)
- ½ cup sliced onion
- ½ cup queso blanco dip
- 3 hoagie buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 250°F.
2️⃣ If chicken breasts are thick, butterfly or pound them to even thickness.
3️⃣ In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp olive oil, lemon pepper, garlic salt, and onion powder. Coat chicken on both sides.
4️⃣ Heat remaining 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 4-5 minutes per side until golden and internal temp reaches 165°F. Remove and let rest.
5️⃣ In the same skillet, sauté bell peppers & onion for 3-5 minutes until tender.
6️⃣ Chop chicken into bite-sized chunks and return to skillet. Toss with veggies.
7️⃣ Stir in queso dip, mixing well to coat everything. Remove from heat.
8️⃣ Place hoagie buns in a baking pan and open them up. Divide chicken mixture evenly among the buns.
9️⃣ Top with mozzarella and toast in the oven for 5 minutes until melty and golden.
Notes
