Ingredients
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional: zest of 1 lemon or orange for a summery twist
Colored sugar or sprinkles for topping
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and zest if using.
Slowly mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
Roll into 1-inch balls, coat with sugar or sprinkles, and place on baking sheets.
Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass.
Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool and enjoy!
