Description

This thick and flavorful ground beef stew is the perfect family meal! Made with simple, budget-friendly ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and packed with rich, comforting flavors. 😍

Ingredients

🥄 1 tbsp olive oil
🧅 1 medium onion, chopped
🌿 3 celery stalks, diced
🧄 4 cloves garlic, minced
🥩 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
🌾 3 tbsp flour
🍅 1 can (6 oz / 170 g) tomato paste
🥣 4 cups beef broth (add more if needed)
🥄 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
🌿 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
🥔 2 Russet potatoes, peeled and diced
🥕 4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
🟢 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
🧂 Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

1️⃣ Sauté the veggies

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add onion and celery, cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

2️⃣ Cook the beef

  • Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned (about 8 minutes).

3️⃣ Thicken the stew

  • Sprinkle in the flour and stir well for 1-2 minutes.
  • Mix in the tomato paste until fully incorporated.

4️⃣ Simmer the stew

  • Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, potatoes, and carrots.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  • Cover partially and let cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If the stew is too thick, add more broth. If you want it thicker, let it simmer uncovered for longer.

5️⃣ Final touches

  • Stir in frozen peas at the end.
  • Season with salt & pepper to taste

Notes

🥩 Want more texture? Swap ground beef for stew meat and cook longer.
🍠 Sweeter twist? Use sweet potatoes instead of Russets.
🌶️ Like it spicy? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or smoked paprika.
