This thick and flavorful ground beef stew is the perfect family meal! Made with simple, budget-friendly ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and packed with rich, comforting flavors. 😍
Ingredients
🥄 1 tbsp olive oil
🧅 1 medium onion, chopped
🌿 3 celery stalks, diced
🧄 4 cloves garlic, minced
🥩 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
🌾 3 tbsp flour
🍅 1 can (6 oz / 170 g) tomato paste
🥣 4 cups beef broth (add more if needed)
🥄 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
🌿 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
🥔 2 Russet potatoes, peeled and diced
🥕 4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
🟢 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
🧂 Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
1️⃣ Sauté the veggies
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add onion and celery, cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
2️⃣ Cook the beef
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned (about 8 minutes).
3️⃣ Thicken the stew
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir well for 1-2 minutes.
- Mix in the tomato paste until fully incorporated.
4️⃣ Simmer the stew
- Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, potatoes, and carrots.
- Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer.
- Cover partially and let cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If the stew is too thick, add more broth. If you want it thicker, let it simmer uncovered for longer.
5️⃣ Final touches
- Stir in frozen peas at the end.
- Season with salt & pepper to taste
