Ingredients
For the Crust & Crumble Topping:
✔️ 2 cups all-purpose flour
✔️ 1/2 cup granulated sugar
✔️ 1/2 teaspoon salt
✔️ 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cubed
✔️ 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Apple Filling:
🍏 3 lbs tart apples (Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and sliced
🍏 1/3 cup granulated sugar
🍏 1 tablespoon cornstarch
🍏 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
🍏 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
🍏 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang.
2️⃣ Make the crust & crumble: In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Work in cold butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until it forms coarse crumbs. Press 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of the pan. Reserve the rest for the topping.
3️⃣ Prepare the apple filling: In a bowl, toss apples with sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Spread evenly over the crust.
4️⃣ Add the crumble topping: Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture over the apples.
5️⃣ Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and the apples are tender.
6️⃣ Let cool completely before slicing into bars. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
🍎 Use a mix of Granny Smith & Honeycrisp for a perfect balance of tart and sweet.
🍋 Lemon juice prevents apples from browning and enhances the flavor.
🍯 For a caramel twist, drizzle with salted caramel sauce before serving!
