Ingredients

Scale

Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold, sliced)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1½ cups red, white, and pink M&Ms (plus extras for topping)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (plus extras for topping)
  • ½ cup Valentine sprinkles (or more for decorating)

Instructions

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper and set aside.

2. Cream Butter & Sugars:

  • In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer), beat cold, sliced butter until smooth.
  • Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, and beat until creamy, about 1-2 minutes.

3. Add Wet Ingredients:

  • Mix in eggs and vanilla extract until just combined.

4. Combine Dry Ingredients:

  • Gradually add flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until the dough comes together.

5. Add Mix-Ins:

  • Fold in M&Ms and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

6. Shape Dough:

  • Using a ¼-cup cookie scoop or a large spoon, scoop out cookie dough and roll into balls.
  • Roll each dough ball in Valentine sprinkles and gently press additional M&Ms and chocolate chips on top.

7. Arrange on Baking Sheets:

  • Place dough balls on prepared baking sheets, leaving space for spreading (about 6 cookies per sheet).

8. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the tops are just set.

9. Cool:

  • Remove the pan from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes (they will continue to cook slightly).
  • Transfer cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Tips for Success:

  • Cold Butter: Using cold butter helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
  • Underbake Slightly: For a softer, chewier cookie, remove them as soon as the edges turn golden.
  • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
