  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk

  • Large heart sprinkles (optional)
  • White cookie frosting
  • Chocolate writing frosting in a piping bag

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Stir in the egg and milk until combined.
  3. Combine & Form Dough:
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until the dough pulls away from the edges of the bowl.
    • Transfer the dough to a clean workspace dusted with powdered sugar. Knead in a drop or two of food coloring for a colorful twist, if desired.
  4. Chill Dough:
    • Shape the dough into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat & Prep:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Slice & Bake:
    • Slice the chilled dough into ¼-⅓ inch thick cookies. Place on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them slightly apart.
    • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges turn lightly golden.
    • Transfer cookies to a cooling rack and let them cool completely.
  7. Decorate & Personalize:
    • Once cooled, decorate with white cookie frosting and top with sprinkles if desired.
    • Use chocolate writing frosting to add personalized messages to each cookie. Allow cookies to set before wrapping or storing.
